Founded in 1935 by Satish Ranjan Das, The Doon School was established with the vision of creating an institution that would provide an all-round education to Indian boys, combining the best of Indian and Western educational traditions.

Curriculum Structure

The Doon School follows a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations while offering flexibility for individual interests and talents. The academic program is divided into three stages:

Middle School (Classes 7-8): Foundational years with exposure to all subjects
Lower Secondary (Classes 9-10): Preparation for ICSE examinations with core subjects
Senior Secondary (Classes 11-12): Specialization in streams leading to ISC examinations

The Doon School is a fully residential campus with twelve houses, each with its own identity, traditions, and housemaster. The house system fosters camaraderie, healthy competition, and a sense of belonging.

Each house accommodates 45-50 students with comfortable living quarters, common rooms, study areas, and recreational facilities. Houseparents and tutors provide academic support and pastoral care, ensuring each student's wellbeing.

Residential life teaches important life skills including time management, responsibility, and interpersonal relationships. The diverse community includes students from across India and around the world, creating a microcosm of global society.

Sports & Athletics

The school offers extensive sports facilities including cricket grounds, football fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, squash courts, and a modern gymnasium. The Himalayan foothills provide excellent opportunities for hiking, trekking, and outdoor education.

Admissions Process

Admission to The Doon School is competitive and based on academic merit, extracurricular achievements, and personal qualities.

Eligibility & Criteria

Admissions are open for boys entering Class 7 (age 11+) and Class 9 (age 13+). Limited seats may be available for other classes based on vacancies.

Selection Process:

Entrance Examination: Tests in English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge
Interview: Personal interview with the admissions committee
School Reports: Review of previous academic performance
Extracurricular Portfolio: Assessment of talents and achievements
